Walt Disney World has announced the ban on single-use plastic straws at all owned and operated locations across the globe.
Disney is sharing another important step in its journey of environmental stewardship by making the decision to eliminate single-use plastic straws and plastic stirrers at all owned and operated locations across the globe, amounting to a reduction of more than 175 million straws and 13 million stirrers annually. The decision to eliminate plastic straws was officially made on Earth Day, April 22, 2019. Plastic straws have been replaced with paper straws.
“Eliminating plastic straws and other plastic items are meaningful steps in our long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Consumer Products. “These new global efforts help to reduce our environmental footprint, and advance our long-term sustainability goals.”
It is a resort-wide change that affects not only the theme parks but water parks, resorts, and Disney Springs as well.
