A 19-year-old man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in his neighborhood several times over the past year was arrested on Friday, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Osceola deputies located a 12-year-old girl on Thursday that had been reported missing in the Kissimmee area for several hours. While the deputies were returning her to her family, the girl told them that she had been raped several times by a man who lived in her neighborhood, and that it started when she was only 11 years old.

Sheriff Marcos Lopez announced in a new briefing on Friday that they identified the man as 19-year-old Ordonez-Valladores, and that the man initially approached the girl at a neighborhood block party.

“No one in this country deserves to be a victim of a crime,” Sheriff López said. “This is a brave little girl. I applaud her for her courage and for her telling the truth about what she has been going through.”

In an interview with deputies, Ordonez-Valladores admitted to raping the girl and was arrested by deputies.

Ordonez-Valladores who is illegally in the U.S. and was awaiting an immigration hearing, is being held in the Osceola County Jail facing four charges of capital sexual battery against a minor under 12, one count of sexual battery and one of lewd and lascivious conduct.

The sheriff also said the suspect, the victim and her family were dealing with immigration issues and praised the girl for coming forward.

“I want everyone to know that if you’re a victim of a crime you need to report it regardless of your immigration status,” the Sheriff said. “There are legal safeguards in place to help victims of crimes even when you have immigration issues.”

Sheriff Lopez said Ordonez-Valladores will remain in the U.S. to serve his time in prison.
