Early Sunday morning, around 3:30am, a man driving a 2019 Toyota northbound on San Lorenzo Road near Cortez Road in Poinciana lost control of his car went off the road. The vehicle hit a sign and then came to a stop after crashing into a tree killing his female passenger.
The driver then fled the scene by foot and it is unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the incident.
The crash is under investigation and charges are pending against the driver.
