Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will be in Orange County at 1 p.m. today to talk about the businesses that can re-open across the state Monday.

Personal services like hair salons, nail salons and barber shops were not part of the Phase I re-opening plan, which does include other retail and restaurant operations . Areas of Osceola County, including the downtowns of Kissimmee and St. Cloud, are dotted with those types of businesses, which have been closed since March 27.

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings wrote a letter to DeSantis on Friday, urging him to allow those businesses to also open on Monday, and noted at his daily press briefing that social distancing guidelines can be met by scheduling strict appointment times to allow them to be open safely.

Orange County officials say today’s meeting will address that letter.
