A Kissimmee man was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of pointing a laser at a plane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Florida Highway Patrol plane was flying over Orlando and approaching landing at Orlando Executive Airport when suddenly the cockpit became illuminated with a blinding green light. The pilot was able to discern that the light was coming from a construction site north of Dr. Philips Academic Commons.

Troopers were sent to the sight and located the man responsible, 47-year-old Guillermo Negron Roque.

Troopers questioned the man, who said he was using the laser for construction purposes, but after further investigation arrested the man and then took him to the Orange County Jail.
