The Kissimmee Police Department is inviting young athletes across the city to lace up their sneakers for the first-ever Hoops with Heroes Youth Basketball Camp, a free summer event aimed at building community connections through the love of the game.
Scheduled for July 28–31, 2025, the camp will offer hands-on basketball training, mentorship from police officers, and plenty of fun for kids and teens in two age groups: ages 6–11 (July 28–29) and ages 12–16 (July 30–31).
Hosted at the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida at 2411 Dyer Blvd. in Kissimmee, the camp includes:

Free “Hoops with Heroes” t-shirts for all registered participants

Daily snacks and lunch

Coaching in basketball fundamentals

Surprise guest appearances

A chance to earn medals

Positive engagement with local police officers in a fun, encouraging setting
“This program is part of our ongoing commitment to engage with the community in meaningful ways,” said Kissimmee Police Chief Charles Broadway. “It’s also about showing our kids that police officers are here to support, encourage, and stand alongside them.”
