The City of Kissimmee hosted a highly successful Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Celebration on Saturday, January 11, at the picturesque Kissimmee Lakefront Park Festival Lawn. Residents and visitors gathered to honor the life, legacy, and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through music, community engagement, and celebration.

The free event brought together hundreds of attendees, offering a meaningful opportunity to reflect on Dr. King’s contributions to civil rights, equality, and unity. Live musical performances by Velvet Groove captivated the audience, creating an uplifting and celebratory atmosphere.

The festival lawn was bustling with activity, featuring local artisans, community vendors, and a special KUA Kids Power Zone filled with youth-focused educational and fun activities. Food vendors provided a variety of delicious options, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The event’s success was made possible through the collaboration and support of key sponsors, including Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA), Toho Water Authority, NAACP Osceola County, the Black Empowerment & Community Council, and Star 94.5.

Attendees praised the event for fostering a sense of togetherness and diversity in the community. As the music played and people connected with one another, the spirit of Dr. King’s enduring message of justice, equality, and hope shone brightly.
