A crash took place on the Florida Turnpike today shortly before noon involving an old school bus from Georgia and a semi-truck caused a shutdown of all southbound lanes.

The bus, which was registered to “Bears Picking” in Georgia and not affiliated with any school district, was traveling northbound when the driver, 56 year old Loccet Emerilu attempted to negotiate a U-turn and was struck by a semi-truck traveling southbound, troopers reported.

The crash caused the bus to overturn and the semi to spill fuel in the southbound lanes where it came to rest.

There were 13 adults on the bus and no children. The adults fortunately only suffered minor injuries, troopers said.

The bus driver was ticked for an improper lane change and all lanes were reopened shortly before 2:30 p.m.
