Universal Studios Florida closed E.T. Adventure on Monday to honor long-time team member and ride lead Michael “Skip” Skipper who was killed in a tragic wrong-way head-on car crash shortly after 10 pm on Sunday night in Osceola County.

Michael Skipper and his 14-year-old son Mikey were heading home from a  July 4th celebration when they were hit head-on by another vehicle that came into their lane. According to Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Skipper was declared dead on the scene and his son Mikey died later at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

The driver of the other vehicle was also pronounced dead at the scene.
