OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Primary Election Day has arrived in Osceola County and across Florida, with voters heading to the polls today, Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, to cast ballots in federal, state and local races.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Voters who are in line at their polling location by 7 p.m. will be permitted to cast a ballot. Unlike Early Voting, voters casting ballots today must vote at their assigned Election Day precinct.
For Osceola County voters, the most reliable source for local election information is the Osceola County Supervisor of Elections Office, led by Supervisor of Elections Mary Jane Arrington. Voters can verify their registration information, locate their assigned polling place and find other official election information through VoteOsceola.gov.
Voters Should Bring Proper Identification
Florida law requires voters to present a current and valid photo identification with a signature when voting in person. Voters who have identification without a signature may be asked to provide an additional accepted form of identification containing their signature.
Voters with questions about acceptable identification, their polling location or their eligibility to vote are encouraged to obtain information directly from the Supervisor of Elections rather than relying on information circulating on social media or other unofficial sources.
Vote-by-Mail Ballots Must Be Returned on Time
Voters who still have a completed Vote-by-Mail ballot should pay close attention to Election Day requirements. Vote-by-Mail ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections by the applicable Election Day deadline to be counted; a postmark alone does not make a late-arriving ballot timely.
Voters should follow instructions from the Osceola County Supervisor of Elections regarding available Election Day options for returning their ballot and can check their ballot status through the official elections website.
Early Voting Has Ended
Osceola County offered an expanded Early Voting period for the Primary Election from Aug. 7 through Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. During Early Voting, registered voters could cast ballots at designated Early Voting locations throughout the county.
That flexibility does not apply today. On Election Day, voters must report to the polling place assigned to their residential address.
Some Races Can Be Decided Today
While primary elections are commonly associated with political parties selecting nominees for the November General Election, today’s ballot also includes contests that can determine who ultimately holds an office.
Nonpartisan races, including certain School Board and judicial contests, can be decided during the Primary Election depending on the results. In addition, under Florida’s election system, certain races in which all qualified candidates have the same party affiliation may appear before all eligible voters and can effectively determine the officeholder during the Primary.
That makes today’s election consequential beyond simply determining which candidates advance to November.
General Election Comes Next in November
For races that are not decided today, the next major election will be Florida’s General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. The voter-registration deadline for the General Election is Oct. 5, and Osceola County will offer Early Voting from Oct. 19 through Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
As voters head to the polls today, election officials continue to encourage residents to rely on official sources for accurate information about voting procedures, polling locations, voter identification and ballot status.
Polls are open today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Registered voters casting ballots on Election Day must vote at their assigned precinct.
